A message from Jim Savage, LCDC
Owner and Executive Director of Imagine Programs
Many years ago I took a risk in doing something different with kids in substance abuse treatment. I stuck with it because I saw it worked, despite the danger of being misunderstood. I saw kids drop their resistance and actually enjoy treatment. I saw kids stay involved and find something positive to belong to. I saw kids grow spiritually, develop respect and display commitment to personal growth. And I saw families heal and become part of a bigger family- an “Imagine family”. Many have stayed involved for literally years. Since opening as an IOP in 2000, Imagine has grown into a wonderful program that has helped hundreds of kids and their families. However, I know there are many in the community who don’t understand what Imagine is, and we still get labeled simply as the place that “does the weird Indian stuff.” But there is SO much more. Underneath the surface is a sophisticated curriculum that provides exceptional content for substance abuse clients and engages them in treatment. When people visit, they are often amazed at how it “feels” at Imagine, using words like “safe”, “peaceful” or “spiritual” to describe their response. They are surprised at how extensive the program is, and a frequent statement we hear is “Wow! I had no idea anything like this existed.” So I want to educate the community about Imagine. I want to get in front of anybody I can, at your place or mine, group or one on one, and show you what Imagine is all about. Take the Imagine Challenge. Come to our facility and see if you agree that this is just about the neatest thing you could imagine for adolescent treatment. Bring your friends and colleagues. This presentation will provide an in-depth analysis of the Imagine Model™ and how this addresses critical issues in adolescent substance treatment. We will also review IMAP (Imagine Model Assessment Protocol), the highly effective process we have developed for assessing teens with substance abuse issues. If you are unable to attend the Open House on October 5, but would like more information about Imagine, please don’t hesitate to call and schedule a time to come and visit. If you have a group that would benefit from this information, we would welcome the opportunity to schedule a tour and presentation. Please contact our office at (972) 423-6007, or e-mail me directly at jim@imagineprogram.com. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you. Jim Savage, LCDC |
